Nice article!

It's too bad there is such a dearth of good materials for home worship produced by and for Baptists. Look at the worthy list of excellent materials suggested at the end of this post and see how few are written by Baptists.

I've long thought we could use some sort of family worship guide in our Baptist homes, similar to the Lutheran Church Book or the Prayer book of the Anglicans. Something which contains our confession, the child's catechism, Baptist catechism, a simple Baptist primer, a few scetches of Baptist heros of the faith, hymns/songs, psalms, prayers, Bible reading plan, a list of the distinctives, memory verses, etc. - a sort of one stop shop for Baptist Family Worship!

Thank you for your articles on family worship. We have been committed to having our regular weekly family worship, and it is a commitment that takes effort and dedication. We are also committed to developing faith at home as both my wife and I have been involved in pastorate, and have seen the results of lack of parental involvement in the lives of children over the years. I believe family worship is one of the key ingredients to bring back the faith in the home, making family the main producers of faith in the children, not the church. The church's role I believe is to support the family in establishing "faith at home". Thank you again for your thoughts, which has given me an extra encouragement to keep on being committed to our family worship.

I would just like to add that my family and I have been greatly blessed by using J.C. Ryle for family worship. His sermons are easily understandable even to my youngest, yet so full of meat that we all feel well fed. "The Christian Race" is especially good.
